FAQs
A few of the questions I get most often. Don't see yours here? Send me a message and I'll reply ASAP!
Booking & Inquiring
How do I book a session?
Fill out the contact form with the type of session you're interested in and any details you already have (rough dates, location ideas, who'll be there). I'll respond within 24 hours with available dates and next steps.
How far in advance should I book?
Most sessions book 2–4 weeks out. The holiday season (October through early December) fills up earliest — for those, reach out 6–8 weeks ahead.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes — a 25% non-refundable retainer is due at booking, with the balance due before or at the session.
What's your reschedule policy?
Life happens. If you need to reschedule, please give me as much notice as you can — I'll do my best to find a new date that works. Reschedules due to weather (for outdoor sessions) are always free of charge.
Pricing & What's Included
What does each session include?
Every session includes unlimited shooting time within the booked window, professionally edited digital images delivered through a private online gallery, full print rights for personal use, and prints (number varies by package). Full pricing is on the pricing page.
Do you charge travel fees?
On-location sessions within the greater Kent / Puget Sound area are included in the package price. For locations more than 50 miles from my Kent studio, a small travel fee may apply — I'll let you know upfront if so.
Can I order additional prints or products beyond what's in my package?
Yes — my print store has plenty of options. The link is included with your gallery delivery.
Do the digital images come edited?
After your session, you'll first see unedited proofs in your gallery so you can choose your favorites. Once you've selected your photos, I professionally color-correct and edit those — and only the edited versions are available for download. I don't deliver raw or unedited files.
Locations & Logistics
Where is the studio?
30446 188th Ave SE, Kent, WA 98042. Studio sessions take place there — look for the sign!
Where do you do on-location sessions?
Anywhere across the greater Puget Sound. I have favorite spots in Kent, Renton, Auburn, Maple Valley, and the surrounding area, but I'm always open to a location that means something to your family. If you're not sure where to go, I'll suggest options based on your style and the time of year.
What if it rains for an outdoor session?
This is the Pacific Northwest, so rain is part of the deal. Most of the time soft cloud cover actually gives us better light than direct sun. If it's a steady drizzle, we'll still shoot. If it's pouring, we'll reschedule at no extra cost. You'll hear from me the day before to confirm.
How long does a session take?
Mini sessions: 20–30 minutes.
Studio sessions: 45–60 minutes.
On-location family sessions: 1–1.5 hours.
Events: depends on the event.
Pets & Family Sessions
Can I bring my pet to a family session?
Yes, please. All my family and mini sessions are pet-friendly. If you want pets to be a featured part of the session, just let me know in advance so I can plan for it.
Can I bring more than one pet?
Yes — multi-pet sessions are welcome. If you're bringing more than two, give me a heads up so I can build in a little extra time and bring a second hand to help wrangle.
Do you do newborn / maternity sessions?
Yes — I've started taking on newborn and maternity sessions. Reach out and we can talk about what you have in mind.
Can the kids' grandparents / extended family join?
Of course. Just let me know who's coming when you book so I can plan the session accordingly. Larger groups sometimes work better at on-location spots than in the studio.
Turnaround & Delivery
How long until I get my photos?
Most sessions are delivered within 2–3 weeks.
How will I receive the photos?
You'll get a link to a private online gallery where you can view, download, and share the images. Galleries stay online and downloadable for 2 years.
Can I share my photos on social media?
Absolutely — please tag me at @dappledplum so I can see them.
Special Sessions
What is a Rainbow Session?
A Rainbow Session is an unhurried, in-home photo session for a pet whose time is short. If you're considering one for your family, reach out — I'm happy to talk about what it would look like for you.
What's the pet-friendly photo booth like?
The PNW Photo Booth travels to events around the Puget Sound. I bring a setup that's comfortable for pets and people alike, props that match your event theme, and an easy way for guests to take a photo and walk away with a print or a digital share. Used at fundraisers, parties, club events, bars, dog parks, and corporate gatherings. Get in touch for availability and pricing.
What is a Mini Session?
Mini sessions are short (20–30 minute) themed studio sessions on specific dates throughout the year — think holiday backdrops, seasonal themes, Valentine's setups. All ages and pets are welcome, and props are included. They're a more affordable way to get a small set of polished images without a full session. Watch the Mini Sessions page for upcoming dates.
